Talking to the Other Party’s Insurance Company

Todd P. Emanuel May 28, 2016 Leave a Comment

You should never sign any document or communicate in a substantive way with the other driver’s insurance company.  An experienced personal injury lawyer should assist you in all such communications.

Why is that, you may wonder?

After you are injured in a motorcycle accident, the opposing party’s insurance company may call you and attempt to tape record an interview with you.  These are seasoned professionals who often ask unfair leading questions to get you to minimize your own damages.  Do not sign any documents or release any statements without first seeking the advice of a qualified personal injury lawyer.

What if it’s too late? What if the insurance company has already recorded me or handed over my medical records?

Any communications you have had with an insurance adjuster should be conveyed to your attorney so that your attorney can obtain a copy of the recording and/or a transcript.
