My sources of evidence in a domestic violence cases include police investigation materials, prior convictions of the perpetrator, medical records, psychotherapy records, photographs, eye witnesses, and even the defendant’s friends, relatives, children, and prior victims.
I look for prior lawsuits, restraining orders involving the perpetrator, witnesses in the perpetrator’s workplace, and anything that may undermine the perpetrator’s credibility. Since the credibility of the perpetrator is always important, I am interested in finding evidence of the defendant’s dishonesty: Has he cheated people in business? Has he embezzled? Has he stolen things?
Other sources are recorded statements, audio, video, emails, voice mails, and social media.
